“I purchased groceries from Organic Foods and Café (Emaar) and discovered a thrips infestation originating from the produce. Thrips are microscopic agricultural pests commonly associated with leafy greens and organic produce. The insects were present inside the food items at the time of purchase and subsequently migrated from the produce into the carry bag by the time I reached home. This indicates that the infestation occurred prior to checkout, not during storage at home. While I understand that organic produce can occasionally carry pests, standard food safety and quality control protocols require: • Proper inspection and washing of produce • Adequate pest management at storage and display areas • Clear segregation to prevent cross-contamination The presence of live pests transferring from food items into packaging reflects a quality control lapse and poses hygiene concerns for customers. I am sharing this feedback so corrective measures can be taken, particularly around produce handling, inspection, and pest prevention, to maintain the standards expected from a premium organic retailer.”
