Reviews

As a restaurant/bar for just any Peruvian/japanese dinner and drinks - excellent. Incredible sashimi and maki rolls. Good vibe and music. Amazing views especially on the terrace. Service is ok. We had dinner here several times while staying in the Marriott. As a restaurant for New Years Eve with a $600/person terrace table with set menu - not good at all. The set menu was horrible and far too much food. We ended up having to ask for just one serving for the mains because we’d be wasting a significant amount of food being unable to finish the plates. Unfortunately we still wasted a lot because several dishes were just inedible. The “a5 wagyu” was so tough, it couldn’t be chewed. We only ate 1 slice of it. The fish main was cold and the sauce poured over had formed a film on it indicating it had been sitting out for a while before coming to our table. We didn’t like the ceviche, the caviar was low quality. It was obvious they cut corners on quality to accommodate for all the dishes (too many) and the number of people booked for the event. I also was made to feel uncomfortable as someone who is sober. With our package was free flow champagne, which of course, we knew when purchased. I told our waiter that I don’t drink when we were sat at our table so they only poured champagne for my partner, which is perfectly ok. But the server came back with 2 alcoholic welcome drinks to our table after knowing I don’t drink, and said they were welcome drinks and looked at me and said “I guess you can’t have this though. Are you sure you don’t want a sip?” First of all, that’s not something you should say to someone who has explicitly told you they don’t drink alcohol. I have no issue with being around it, I simply don’t drink for health reasons and because I don’t like it. But it was so weird for them to purposely come back to our table with 2 and dangle it in front of me as like “oh you don’t get one since you don’t drink.” I was never offered a non-alcoholic welcome drink or non-alcoholic champagne. The restaurant was unequipped for this situation which is just bizarre to me. I’ve been to countless places whom find out I’m sober and will ensure I feel included by offering a non-alcoholic alternative for complimentary welcome drinks for nights & events much less significant than NYE. This should have been a consideration by the restaurant ahead of time given this is a big night, and staff need training to navigate guests who don’t drink which could be for any number of reasons. Throughout the rest of the night a different server gave me some off-menu mocktail options that were delicious. Because they were off menu, we had to pay for them which is fine, but it further validates my point that they really didn’t consider guests who may not drink alcohol. Come here any other night of the year and you’ll probably have a great time and great meal. We did. Good music and atmosphere.
